CMMI Gap Analysis
Summary of a typical offer for a Gap Analysis performed by a certified Lead Appraiser (SCAMPI Lead)
Our gap analysis approach, from the well known CMMI referential, is used to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses
of your processes at a specific time and for a clearly identified organizational scope. Our evaluations are performed by a certified
Lead Appraiser (SCAMPI Lead) who is assisted by qualified team members chosen and trained with care, mostly from the evaluated
organization.
The Principles We Value
- To rely on proven approaches and to apply these with flexibility and efficiency, never compromising on anything
that could affect the quality and the credibility of the results
- Opportunity for technological transfer : train, support and bring the evaluated organization towards greater
autonomy
- Compare the Gap Analysis to the business objectives and to consider the
evaluation as a step in the global
software process improvement cycle
- To observe a rigorous respect for reaching team consensus, that will lead to identify an exhaustive and reliable
profile of the software process; the consensus will facilitate the transition toward the preparation of the action plan and its
implementation
The 2 phases of the Gap Analysis
- The preparation phase (mandate definition, team training, logistics)
- The on-site phase (data collection, analysis, synthesis)
The Main Deliverables
- Presentation of the context, the scope and the corporate goals
- Presentation of strengths and weaknesses (gaps between the organization’s
implemented practices and the CMMI)
- Presentation of the proposed improvements
The Prerequisites
- Confirm the clear commitment of the customer's representative
(called the "sponsor") to support the appraisal steps, as well as the subsequent phases
for the action plan and its implementation)
- Verify that all team members have followed the official SEI course
"Introduction to CMMI" or an acceptable equivalent training

SCAMPI B & C
Alcyonix offers two other types of CMMI evaluations: SCAMPI B & C. They are similar to Alcyonix' Gap Analysis with
difference residing in the fact that the results of a SCAMPI B or C must be registered with the SEI. For more information about these
evaluations visit: FAQ on SCAMPI Classes.
