Typical Proposal for Support for a Particular Process Area

Support

Context

After an evaluation (diagnosis) using a best practices model (such as the CMMI), an organization which has developed an action plan may look for an well defined expertise on one or the other of the process areas of the best practices model.
Alcyonix offers its cumulated expertise in the industry for the implementation of practices in conformity with the model chosen by the client.

Duration

The number of process areas, the expectations of deliverables (definition and/or review, adaptation or creation), and the degree of implication of site resources will influence the duration of the project.

Deliverables

A precise list will be negotiated in order to meet expectations.
We would typically find one or several of the following deliverables.

  • An outline of one or more processes
  • Utility templates associated to one or more processes
  • A draft version of one or more processes
  • A final version of one or more processes
  • Pedagogical or communication material or to support the deployment of one or more processes

Activities Performed by Alcyonix

Alcyonix assigns an expert to go on site after the mandate has been clearly defined by phone. This expert will be supported by other Alcyonix experts (by phone and Internet access).
The specific activities are:

  • Discussion with the point of contact person to confirm the participants, their availability, etc., and to obtain a copy of the audit results (ex. : SCAMPI) or the evaluation results (ex. : SCAMPI) for one or more process areas
  • An analysis of the results, with help from the selected participants to precisely identify how to maintain the strengths and how to correct the weaknesses, for each practice, in each process area
  • Preparation of a detailed action plan
  • Validation and updating of plan
  • Implementation of agreed upon deliverables
  • Deployment as a pilot
  • General deployment

Activities Performed by the client

  • Identification of point of contact
  • Participation in the clarification of the mandate with Alcyonix
  • Participation in the analysis (selected participants: at least one, or more, if the client wishes) with Alcyonix
  • As an option, if the client wishes, participation in the planning, the defining and the implementation
  • Comments to Alcyonix during validation sessions programmed by Alcyonix (for the point of contact and for the director (required); and, if the client's wishes, the participants may also attend)

Conditions

Since Alcyonix will not have control over the site resources before implementing the process improvement, it is clearly established that Alcyonix cannot be held liable in the achievement of a certain maturity level.
On the other hand, Alcyonix will supply services based on its well defined expertise to deliver a plan for one or more processes, covering all requirements so that the site may reach the goals associated with the selected process area(s).  If the supplier clearly demonstrates that the processes delivered do not satisfy the requirements to achieve the desired level, Alcyonix will correct the plan at no additional charge.
 

Client Commitment

As the commitment from the director for support in the deployment of the improvements is important, (support which should continue throughout the improvement cycle), the director must commit to participate in the plan according to the above mentioned activities and to assign a point of contact and competent and available participants.

Confidentiality

Alcyonix will not disclose any information obtained during the mandate.
